Hallberg-Rassy is one of my all-time favorite brands. And the 312 is not just a boat for weekend sailing.

With its strong hull, skeg-hung rudder, and balanced design, it’s perfectly capable of handling ambitious routes — Canaries, Iceland, Bay of Biscay — and has already done so in the hands of other owners.

Of course, it all depends on your preparation. But the base itself is time-tested and trusted by many captains.

One rare bonus here: the teak deck was fully restored at the Hallberg-Rassy yard in Ellös. That’s a big job — on our own HR 382, this kind of refit cost us around $5,000. You probably wouldn’t want to go through it yourself. On this boat, it’s already done.
