About the author, Vadim Luppo

My name is Vadim, I am 28 years old, I became an entrepreneur in my 17. I am also a traveller (as of 2021 I have visited 22 countries, I’m not chasing after the quantity of countries, I’ve been several times in many of them), I’ve been travelling nonstop for the last 3 years.

Vadim Luppo, the author of the book “Buying a sailboat from A to Z and sailing to the Mediterranean Sea on it”

I’ve been dreaming about sailing since I was a kid when my mom read the books about captain Cook to me. I tried sailing in 2011, in 2012 I bought my first sailing inflatable catamaran Veter 2M.

This allowed me to make my dream about sailing become more real, I learned and adopted the skilled captains’ experience, participated in several races but in 2013 I understood that I wanted something more, I wanted a fully functional sailboat. I sold the cat in 2013 and decided to buy a sailboat next year.

I bought my first sailboat in 2013, it was Karlskrona Viggen, we repaired it a bit and sailed in the Baltic sea together with my girlfriend and my brother in 2014 and 2015.

Further we decided that we wanted a bigger sailboat so we sold our Happy in 2015 and planned out to buy Albin Vega in 2016.

In 2016 we went to Sweden again and found our next sailboat. We had to check 6 sailboats before we found it and even felt desperate already but finally in the end we found exactly the sailboat we wanted to buy.

Albin Vega that we bought in 2016 (this one didn’t have an inboard motor), manufactured in 1970, it is 51 years old now

We sailed this one 1 season and made a conclusion that we were lacking an inboard motor for long passages, so we decided to sell this one, too.

We couldn’t buy the new sailboat with an inboard motor in 2017 due to some personal reasons but we finally did it in 2018.

One more Albin Vega, it is extra updated (and has a fresh motor), I made some calculations and found out that throughout the last 10 years it was invested more than 25 000 euro.
The year of built is 1978, it is 43 years now.

As you can understand, it’s price was significantly lower than 25 000 euro.

This is our sailboat Renate, the one we sailed around Europe, we made a passage from Sweden to Tunisia and it took us 70 days.

Our Sweden – Africa (Tunisia) journey route (2018)

In my book «Buying a sailboat from A to Z and sailing to the Mediterranean Sea on it» I give a step-by-step plan for making your dream of sailing come true. Everything is approved by my personal experience.

We traveled this path in 70 days together with my girlfriend, reaching the Mediterranean took us 49 days.

In 2019 we continued travelling, we sailed to Italy and Greece. We explored the questions of  documentation and navigation processes in one of the most  и навигации в одних из самых bureaucratic countries, I told all the details in the book.

During these journeys I gained experience of non-stop 4 days long passages.

We are planning to explore Spain in 2021 if we have such a possibility. As the new experience occurs I update my book and add more info there.

Apart of the sailing life I also travel by a plane, by car, by motorbike and by foot. This was my fourth winter in Asia though I also have an idea to go to South America in 2021.

Please check my presentation, I mentioned the list of themes and points (the book content) there. After you read the book, you can ask me any questions you have, besides, I can help you with the sailboat purchase.
