It’s an interesting possibility to buy a modern mainstream sailboat at a cheap price. This is a sailboat from 1997, it’s better to find some more info about the quality of Bavaria sailboats of that time because it depends very much on a year built.

Wood and plastic look good but as far as this sailboat was built using modern technologies, it can have osmosis. Pay maximum attention to this.

Keel bolts, rigging and other important construction parts should be checked properly as well.

If the bolts and the rigging are old – they need to be replaced then. This means that the sailboat becomes less attractive from the perspective of the price.

It is an alternative to Hallberg Rassy, ​​the Najad brand stands at the HR level. Personally, I like this option in this size even more than HR.

This is a very reliable and well-made boat, the manufacturer didn’t try to save money on the configuration. Yes, it is expensive, but it’s worth it 🙂

If you buy a mainstream model, it turns out that your boat is more designed for simple travel, but you get additional comfort like a shower, a modern interior, etc.

If you go to the ocean on a mainstream sailboat, some problems maн begin (eg. a broken bulkhead, constant breakdowns, etc).

If you take a sailboat from the 70s and 80s, then you lose comfort, but you get a more seaworthy and safer boat.

In boats like this one both advantages are combined. This is a modern boat with a focus on seaworthiness and reliability.

It is wide (it’s very comfortable), it has 2 showers (one in the cockpit and the other one inside), everything is quite fresh and is in excellent condition, there’s tiller control (plenty of space in the cockpit, maintainability, sensitive control), a good modern engine, the sails are in good condition etc.

The boat is completely ready to sail.

Although it has a fin keel, it is quite long, a rudder blade is protected with a skeg, all these shows that it is a good cruiser, it is not scary to go to the ends of the world on a sailboat like this.

Friends! Today we have a very cool Maxi Fenix sailboat with an updated Volvo Penta 13hp inboard motor for 10500 euro only!

The motor was replaced in 2015 and was first used in 2016. Total haulage is several hundreds of hours which is quite few.

Plastic and wood are in good condition.

A full set of sails, a jib furler. The jib itself is automatic. The sails are in very good condition.

There’s a swim platform (it is very comfy and hip — the statement is based on my personal experience), an Autohelm ST 1000 autopilot, gas lines were updated, the gas oven is new. There’s also an anchor with a 50 meters anchor rope, mooring equipment, etc.

In the stern you can see a huge (just enormous!) bed. The kitchen is organized not in the corner but along all the left portside which is quite comfortable.

This sailboat is more like an apartment than like the common sailboats. It’s very cool for living 🙂

Friends! Today we have an updated Hallberg-Rassy 94 Kutter with a fresh Craftsman Diesel 42 h.p. motor from 2012 for 44000 euro.

This is a non-standard project for Hallberg-Rassy. They made a motorsailer and it sails quite well even at a windward.

The Hallberg-Rassy 94 Kutter crossed oceans, i.e. it is also a reliable offshore sailboat like all other HR.

The boat has a long keel, low draft and maximum reliability.

There is a full set of sails and genoa furler.

In 2012 the engine was replaced with a new one which now has a haulage of about 800 hours (only about 10% of the total resource is used).

In 2016 they made major repairs and replaced a lot of things and installed additional equipment. The boat looks very fresh.

The wood and plastic are in excellent condition, the teak is also in good condition.

The width of 3.3 meters gives maximum comfort for this size so the boat feels like a 12-meter!

The length of the hull is 9.4 meters which means that you fall into both categories at once: up to 9.5 meters and 8-10 meters. This is a very good size for inexpensive staying in the marina.

The layout is also very cool, spacious, there’s a huge number of lockers in the cockpit.

The fuel supply is 150 liters, the water supply is 150 liters. This can easily be expanded due to flexible tanks. For example, add another 100-200 liters.

The sailboat has both a tiller and a steering wheel. This is also quite convenient.

I understand that the boat costs 44000 euro. Some people ask me to post more expensive yachts, some ask for the cheaper ones. I try to post different offers so that you understand how the market works.

There is a full set of sails but no genoa furler (classic setting).

Plastic and wood are in excellent condition. Luxurious layout with a huge bed under the cockpit, I guess it’s a triple-bed 🙂

The yacht was updated very well. It has a 2012 folding propeller engine, most likely, a few hundred hours old. Spray hood and cockpit tent were made in 2018. There’s also a 100 watt flexible solar panel.

There’s a built-in 12 volts refrigerator (2018), a diesel heater. All cushions and mattresses were updated in 2020.

There’s a GPSMAP 720 navigator, an Autohelm 1000 autopilot, a VHF radio station with it’s own GPS receiver, a depth sounder, a new compass, all the ropes go to the cockpit, 6 winches, 2 anchors.

There’s a full set of sails: a mainsail, a genoa and a spinnaker with a spinnaker boom.

The new antifouling has already been made in 2021.

New AGM 180 Ah battery, new 70 Ah starter battery, shore power and charger.

The kitchenware, mooring equipment, rescue equipment, etc.

A lot of work has been done on the boat, and a lot of money and effort have been invested. I really like boats like this one because the previous owner has already done everything for you 🙂

Friends! You asked me to show smth interesting among the trailer sailboats. This is Maxus 24, a very interesting sailboat made on a famous dockyard (2010 year) for only 14 000 euro!

The price is small enough for a sailboat like this, there’s some problem with the drop keel though, it needs some service. Trailer is for sale, too, it’s price is 2500 euro. It’s a B-category trailer.

The sailboat was used in fresh water only, the condition is good.

This sailboat is more suitable for inner waters, i.e. you load it on the trailer and float out by yourself. The trailer gets into the water, you float the boat out, the mast can be installed by two people without the crane or other equipment.

The motor should be bought in addition, the owner sells the new 6 hp motor for 2000 euro but in my opinion it’s too expensive.

I love the sailboats for the sea, this one is not my option but we have people here who want something like this.

How much is the legendary brand in modern design?

Hallberg-Rassy 310 (2011) with motor Yanmar 3YM20C 22 hp for 134 000 euro.

I already told you that Hallberg-Rassy is a wide-known dockyard, some yachtsmen compare it to Bentley.

You can buy a well-conditioned 30-33-feet Bavaria for 35-50 thousands euro but HR will cost twice or even 3 times more.

It is considered that HR are already ready for offshore cruises, are very reliable and made from top quality materials, these are the sailboats for people who value the sea-going abilities and reliability.

I think you could try to bargain and buy it for less (or not because in France the same sailboat comes for 175 thousands euro).

If you keep in mind the recommendation to buy a sailboat that costs within 10-20% of your capital — you should be a millionaire to buy this sailboat.
