Guys, this is amazing! The boat was prepared for a voyage around the world, there’s a huge amount of new and expensive equipment.

The engine is new, 2016 and 400 hours. This is less than 5% of its resource, it means that you get 95% of the resource.

A full set of sails. There’s a baby stay with a furler (this is also very cool). There’s a wind autopilot (a new one costs several thousand euro), there’s an electric autopilot, a navigator, a lazy jack, batteries, a VHF radio station, a new water tank, a new diesel tank, etc.

As I already said, Albin Vega is a legendary sailboat, I had 2 of them. Many interesting voyages were made on them, including round the world.

What do we have here?

Albin Q21 inboard motor, but it’s out of order. I think there is a chance that it can be fixed, but you have to figure it out.

The previous owner didn’t want to deal with this and installed a new outboard motor with a long leg, but it is only 5 hp. This is enough only for mooring and for moving during the calm weather.

Judging by the photos, plastic and wood look good, there is a full set of sails, there is a jib furler, there are covers for the sails, all the ropes go to the cockpit.

In my opinion, Hallberg Rassy Monsun is the perfect Vega, it has everything that I lacked in the last boat.

A good boat for two but it is bigger than Vega and there’s already a passage in front of the table. There’s a chart table that can be used as a workplace. You can install a shower on this boat. There’s an anchor chamber.

In this case, the engine was updated and a powerful Volvo Penta MD 2030 D was installed. There’s also a stern and bow platform (this is also very convenient). It’s an interesting possibility to buy a modern mainstream sailboat at a cheap price. This is a sailboat from 1997, it’s better to find some more info about the quality of Bavaria sailboats of that time because it depends very much on a year built.

Wood and plastic look good but as far as this sailboat was built using modern technologies, it can have osmosis. Pay maximum attention to this.

Keel bolts, rigging and other important construction parts should be checked properly as well.

If the bolts and the rigging are old – they need to be replaced then. This means that the sailboat becomes less attractive from the perspective of the price.

It’s a small boat and it is suitable for beginners. Looks pretty! The only thing I don’t like is the fin keel, which is quite fragile. If this doesn’t bother you then it may be a good option.

It is an alternative to Hallberg Rassy, the Najad brand stands at the HR level. Personally, I like this option in this size even more than HR.

This is a very reliable and well-made boat, the manufacturer didn’t try to save money on the configuration. Yes, it is expensive, but it’s worth it 🙂

If you buy a mainstream model, it turns out that your boat is more designed for simple travel, but you get additional comfort like a shower, a modern interior, etc.

If you go to the ocean on a mainstream sailboat, some problems maн begin (eg. a broken bulkhead, constant breakdowns, etc).

If you take a sailboat from the 70s and 80s, then you lose comfort, but you get a more seaworthy and safer boat.

In boats like this one both advantages are combined. This is a modern boat with a focus on seaworthiness and reliability.

It is wide (it’s very comfortable), it has 2 showers (one in the cockpit and the other one inside), everything is quite fresh and is in excellent condition, there’s tiller control (plenty of space in the cockpit, maintainability, sensitive control), a good modern engine, the sails are in good condition etc.

The boat is completely ready to sail.

Although it has a fin keel, it is quite long, a rudder blade is protected with a skeg, all these shows that it is a good cruiser, it is not scary to go to the ends of the world on a sailboat like this.
