I should say right away that I don’t have much experience owning a boat with an electric engine. I believe that this technology has a big future, but it’s still in its initial stage.
If you are not able to charge the batteries, you will be left without an engine. When you have a regular diesel engine, it’s much easier for you to calculate the fuel reserve in the tank or canisters.
To have enough power reserve, you will need a good battery bank. New 304 Ah lithium batteries for the motor and 280 Ah house batteries are installed on this boat.
New solar panels with an MPPT controller have been installed. There is a charge monitor for all systems.
The interior is in good condition. There is an electric water supply in the galley. A toilet with an electric flush.
Full set of sails: mainsail and staysail on a furling. The sails are in very good condition.
There is a spray hood and a cockpit tent. The portholes were replaced. Now the boat is completely sealed and dry.
There are also two autopilots on the boat, in case one fails.
What do you think about such a yacht? It’s interesting to hear your thoughts.
The electric motor has its pros and cons, and this topic is definitely interesting to many yachtsmen.
