The Rival 32 is a classic design by Peter Brett, built in England. The hull is solid fiberglass with a semi S-shaped profile and wide side decks. Handling is predictable in a range of conditions.
The cockpit is deep and protected by a sprayhood. All lines lead aft, making solo sailing practical. The rig includes an aluminum mast and boom, with standing rigging replaced in 2016.
Below deck, the layout is traditional with two long settees, a folding table, and a forward cabin. Five can sleep aboard—two in the bow, two on settees, one in a quarter berth. The galley has a two-burner stove with oven and a top-loading fridge.
The engine is a Yanmar 3YM30, paired with a three-blade Variprop (2024). The electrical system is upgraded with Victron components and solar panels for extended cruising.
The boat has a vacuum toilet with holding tank, Webasto heat, and LED lighting throughout. The hull was antifouled in March 2024. The deck is clean polyester without teak.
